Dylan Farrell began his collaboration with Jean de Merry in 2014 when he was inspired to create a collection of playful, animated pieces that express visual poetry and undiluted personality. His design styling is a reflection of paradoxical influences including contemporary abstract sculpture, graffiti, period antiquity, deconstructivism, and the romanticism of early-20th-century technical drawing. Each object is a unique, thoughtfully crafted heirloom that is developed in close collaboration with some of the world’s most talented artisans, combining age-old techniques with the most modern technologies available. Every item has its own fingerprint, be it the distinctiveness of hand-made motifs, matchless three-dimensional forms, or unique material interplay.
Dylan was trained as an industrial designer at the world renown Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Following his studies, he honed his design-craft as a consultant to the ‘who’s-who’ of art and design, working alongside several American design icons on widely recognized projects and collections. After traveling for various projects and grants abroad, Dylan relocated to Sydney to practice as creative principal at Thomas Hamel and Associates. In 2016 he launched his namesake firm in collaboration with his wife, Nicolette. Dylan ‘s individual and collaborative works have been published in Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Belle, Elle Décor, The Financial Review, The Hollywood Reporter, Interior Design, Interiors, New York Spaces, Veranda and Vogue Living.
